Saturday Night Clever...

Last night the lights went out and the owner of Flunkytown Disco, the "hottest dance club in da' Bronx", was found dead, lying in the middle of the dance floor with a meat clever in his back. Stan A. Live was no longer found alive. Moments later the DJ, Wolfman Bob, was found in the ally way outside the club wearing steel platformed shoes. Apparently he was electrocuted by a hanging power line that had fallen into a puddle of water... which Wolfman happened to be standing in. Who killed them? That was the question on debate as sixteen of us disco members were locked in a room, left to discover the murderer. Who were we? We were all "friends" of Stan's:
(Each character was played by two people so we could have more people at the party. There was a male and a female version of each except for Knight Feevah because Reed's date was sick and wasn't able to make it. Josh wasn't going to be able to come originally but then was able to at the last second and didn't have a part so he doubled with Reed on his part.)
Vinny V. Divichi (Ben and Alyse): By day, Vinny is a mild-mannered mechanic, but by night, watch out! He explodes into the leisure-suited, gold-chained dynamo disco stud who has scorched the hears of many a Bronx girl. He moves with such grace, he truly makes you believe that disco will never die. He's as cool as Baretta, and hotter than Erik Estrada.
Brady Bunsch (Kevin and Elyse): Brady flew out to the back streets of da' Bronx several months ago in search of his wayward son, Robby, who ran from a sheltered split-level life in West Coast suburbia in search of seedier pastures. Although Brady has not yet found his son, he has found- to his surprise- that he loves the nightlife, he likes to boogi. How he's a wild and crazy guy with a happening perm, and a new attitude.
Angina Palpatori (Me and Kenny Chuck): Rumored to have caused more than one heart attack among her many "dance" partners, she gives the expression "drop-dead gorgeous" new meaning. Angie's a well-endowed beauty and a regular on the New York disco circuit. Fron the bleached top of her coif to the tips of her stiletto pumps, Angie is a force to be reckoned with on the flashing floors of New York's discos.
Polly Esther Stuffincupp (Garrison and Karen): Polly is a ruch girl from Lawn Guyland, who loves "slumming it" and coming down to the Bronx discos every chance she gets. She's not much of a dancer, but what she lacks in rhythm, she makes up for in style and ultra-expensive clothes. After wisely investing the money she got fro her Sweet 16 party, Polly no longer has to rely on Daddy's money. Now, at 19, Polly's almost as rich as her Dad, H. R. Stuffincupp.
Knight Feevah (Josh and Reed): Knight came out from Sheboygan to the Big App;e to be a star, but quickly bacame a student fo the school of hard knocks. Now penniless, he works mixing drinks at Flunkytown's bar and lives in a one-room apartment above the funhouse at Coney Island. But his luck is changing. Knight has boyish good looks and has always been popular with the girls because, shall we say, he makes a great Harvey Wallbanger.
Manny Baritone (Joe and Kelsea): Celebrity crooner Manny Baritone is the master of love ballads and catchy disco tunes. He's in town promoting his new disco song about the new-fangled microwave oven. Then song, "Copa-amana", has gotten red-hot faster than a fork in a radarprange and ha shot right to the top of the charts. Although he has a sold-out concert later this week, he's making a detour to Flunkytown Disco to sign autographs because it's smack in the middle of the Bronx neighborhood where he grew up. Beneath the sequined pantsuit, he's still just a nice Bronx boy.
Belle Badham (Nate and Darlene): Belle, Stan A. Live's wife, is the business sencse behind Stan's inpiration. She's the one who took a failed neighborhood business and turned it into Flunkytown, da' Bronx's leading disco. Rumor has it that Flunkytown is beginning to get bigger crowds than the most famous disco of all" the infamous "Studio 10-to-Life". A formidable woman, Belle's as intimidating as the club's bouncers and has had to defend herself against the advances of many a drunk patron.
Chaka Moon (Clay and Sarah): Chaka Moon ios one mysterious chick. Always decked out in the latest fashions and a huge mink coat that trails on the ground, she arrives each night at Flunkytown in a flashy white Lincoln, with a stud on each arm. She sits at a corner table, conducting secret business dealings with rich men. She wears a seductive smile that never betrays her emotions, and you can't read anything in her eyes because of her silver shades that reflect the bright lights of Flunkytown like a disco ball.
The discussion began and went on for hours with accusation after accusation, each one bringing us closer to the truth. Finally, after 4 hours of debate, and a little time for food, we came to a conclusion. Who was it you ask? It was none other than Chaka Moon! The blind and partially deaf "friend" and WIFE (as we all discovered that night) of Stan A. Live! Oh what secrets were discovered the night of the death of Stan and Wolfman... oh what secrets!

Ice!!!

This post is going to be written out of shear frustration and anger at ice! (If you can't tell, I'm an Arizona girl through and through.) I've been in two car accidents in one and a half winters and now today I got in my third ice accident. This time it wasn't a car accident, but it hurts! It was actually probably quite entertaining for Clay and Sarah, who happened to be walking behind me when it happened. I was walking vertically one second and the next I was lying on the ground horizontally. It was so quick I didn't have any time to react! Clay thought I was going to bounce back up again because I hit so hard. I definitely was in shock for a second as to why I was lying on the ground. I was okay except for a HUGE bruise/ bump on the side of my upper leg, a bruise on the palm of my hand, and a bruise on my elbow. I'm not quite sure how I had to have landed in order to incur the injuries in those particular spots, but nevertheless, they are there, and I've been painfully aware of them all day long! I don't know who in their right mind would or could say that they love the cold weather and the ice and the snow! It's beyond me! Anyway, now that I've given my two cents worth on the topic I feel much better, on the inside that is. I hope everyone's had a fantastic day and GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!

Baby Sister?

So I went home to visit today and to see my baby sister, Alexa, because her birthday was yesterday. When I got there, lo and behold I couldn't find my baby sister! In her place was a 13 year old girl that looked half grown up! How could that happen?! My baby sister is no longer a "little girl". She's in junior high now, and you can definitely tell by the attitude. She's starting to get her own style, she's got her own attitude, and she's all grown up! What a weird realization! It's exciting though because now she's starting to be included with the "big girls". She's not all the way there yet, but closer... =) I remember when I was 13 I thought I was on top of the world and pretty much the coolest person ever. I thought I was soooo... big. Boy was I in for a shock in the coming years. =) Anyway, I just thought I'd share that realization with everyone in case they were wondering... which I doubt anyone was. I hope everyone's had a fabulous year so far! Love you all lots!

Angels

It's funny how one minute you can be feeling sorry for yourself and the next you feel so grateful for what you have. I often wish that I could just take away the pain that my friends suffer and carry their burdens for them. I know though, that it wasn't ever meant to be that way. Why? Because someone has already done that for us. I pray so fervently now for my friends who are suffering internally, who are going through rough waters right now. My eyes fill with tears as I think of the trials that they are currently facing, and I wish so much that I could take it all away or at least be there every step of the way with them as they trudge through on their journey. I'm thankful for the testimony that I have of the atonement that reassures me that everything will be okay. I say to my friends that are facing a brick wall in their lives "...peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment. And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all they foes. Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands." (Doctrine and Covenants 121: 7-10) I hope and pray that I can help you in some way, whether by this simple testimony or by lending my shoulder to cry on. You are not alone. Elder Jeffry R. Holland said, "God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face." He sends angels, both seen and unseen, to aid you and to lift you up in your most challenging times. Don't give up. Turn to the Lord, and let him heal you. He's already felt the pain that you are facing, and He wants you to give it all over to Him now. Remember, it shall be "but a small moment... and thy friends do stand by [you], and they shall hail [you] again with warm hearts and friendly hands."
